Purpose & Need
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the U.S. solar industry will grow to nearly 250 Gigawatts (or 250 billion watts) by 2040. Much of this growth is attributable to the move by states to adopt renewable energy standards (RES). In 2004, Colorado became the first state to establish an RES by ballot initiative. Since 2010, Colorado's renewable electricity net generation has more than tripled, led by increased solar and wind, and accounted for 30% of the state's total generation in 2020. Galehead’s Grandview and Crow’s Roost Solar Projects will play an important part in ensuring Colorado meets its established RES.
