Longmeadow Solar Project Overview

Utility-scale solar converts energy from the sun to clean, renewable electricity for use in homes and communities. Solar technology is simple, scalable, and provides great flexibility for the future of the grid. As a daytime power source, solar helps meet electricity demand during peak demand hours.

The proposed Longmeadow Solar Project (the Project) is an up to 500-megawatt (MW) alternating current utility-scale solar energy facility and up to 500-MW battery energy storage system in a rural area of Morgan County. The Project would encompass approximately 5,500 acres of privately owned land. When completed, the Project would connect in the future to the proposed Canal Crossing Switching Station to be owned and operated by the Public Service Company of Colorado (also known as Xcel Energy). If approved, the anticipated Project construction start would be early 2025 with commercial operation in late 2026.
