Trapper Solar Project Overview

Utility scale solar converts energy from the sun to clean, renewable electricity for use in homes and communities. Solar technology is simple, scalable, and provides great flexibility for the future of the grid. As a daytime power source, solar helps meet electricity demand during peak demand hours.

The proposed Trapper Solar Project is an approximately 250-megawatt (MW) alternating current utility-scale solar energy facility and an approximately 125-MW battery energy storage system (BESS) south of Hayden in Routt County. This Project would encompass approximately 3,030 acres of private and state-owned land. If approved, the Project would be anticipated to begin construction in the summer of 2026 with commercial operation targeted by the winter of 2027.
